Furniture Refinishing
Refinishing usually starts with stripping followed by a further hand picking and cleaning. Filler is applied to any damaged areas and is sanded by hand or a machine. The piece is then stained and ending with 4 to 9 coats of clear or colored finish (lacquer, varnish, polly, or paint) in the desired sheen (flat, mat, satin, semigloss, gloss) with a fine hand sanding between each coat.
In some cases, for instance but not limited to wicker or children’s furniture, stripping is not necessary and the existing finish can simply be thoroughly sanded, primed and coated with a colored lacquer or paint.
In conjunction with the above, glaze may be applied in your choice of color and intensity. For a more unique look, we can add mechanical distressing and a clear coat creating an endless number of color effect/antiquing. (Adds 20%-60%)
